GWCT Scottish Auction 2024

Terms and Conditions

1. Purchasers must take the sport being offered on the dates stated, or risk the forfeiture of the purchased lots. All shooting, fishing and stalking will be in 2024 unless stated otherwise. Rollovers into subsequent years are not permitted unless otherwise stated.

2. All lots can be bid for on-line from 11am on Friday 19th April. For live auction lots maximum bids should be left by 6pm on Thursday 2nd May when they will be carried forward into the live event. We are also able to take telephone bids on the night. Please email Lois Bayne-Jardine at scottishauction@gwct.org.uk to register. Please do this by Tuesday 30th April. The silent auction will close at approx 11pm on Thursday 2nd May.

3. The winning bidder for each lot will be notified by text and/or email at the close of the auction, with a follow up email in the following days.

4. Any statement as to authorship, attribution, origin, date, age, provenance and conditions is a statement of opinion, and is not to be taken as a statement or representation of fact.

5. The highest bidder shall be the buyer. If any dispute arises the chairman shall have the absolute discretion to settle it and put any disputed lot up again. The auctioneer acts as agent only. He shall have full discretion to refuse any bidding, to divide any lot, to combine any two or more lots and to withdraw any lot or lots from the sale without any case giving reason.

6. The chairman reserves the right to refuse any bid less than 70% of the guide price for lots contained within the Auction.

7. Payment must be made either by cheque, credit card or bank transfer direct to GWCT, or via the link provided by EMMA at a small cost.

Cheques should be made payable to “Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust Scottish Auction”. Details for Bank Transfer will be provided to successful bidders.

8. All lots are sold with all faults, imperfections and errors of descriptions. Neither the organiser nor the donor can be held responsible for errors of description or for genuineness or authenticity of any lot, or for any fault or defect in it howsoever caused. No warranty whatever is given by the organisers or donor to any buyer in respect of any lot and any implied conditions or warranties, and all lots are sold subject to no return. The Successful bidder/purchaser of a lot has no right to sell on to third parties, sublet or assign without the prior agreement of both the chairman and donor.

9. Except in so far as other arrangements may have been made with the organisers of the sale, the buyer shall pay the purchase price within seven days of the sale. If at the expiration of a further seven days the lot is not paid in full, the sale may be rescinded without any notice being given to the buyer. Ownership of a lot purchased shall not pass to the buyer until he has made payment in full. Nevertheless, every lot shall be at the sole risk of the buyer from the fall of the hammer.

10. For this sale the Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust (Scotland) will charge no vendor’s commission nor will the buyer’s premium apply.

11. Purchasers of shooting days are required to ensure that any person who takes part in the shoot is a safe and experienced shot and is fully covered by Third Party Insurance. The donors reserve the right to see evidence of insurance cover and to ask anyone who shoots dangerously to leave the shooting field immediately. We feel sure that prospective purchasers will appreciate the sense of this condition.

12. All guns must possess up-to-date Firearm Certificates or Shot Gun Licences and be insured.

13. Lots are donated with the expectation that purchasers will respect the donors’ generosity and abide by local rules and conditions. All purchasers will abide by all Health and Safety conditions imposed by the donor.

14. Privacy Policy: We’ll use your details to fulfil your request. For more about how we protect your personal data see our Privacy Policy on our website www.gwct.org.uk.
